Central Railway Announces Late Night Block for Carnac Bridge Girder Launch

Central Railway will conduct a four-hour power and traffic block late Saturday night to facilitate the girder launch of the Carnac Bridge near Masjid station. Suburban services between CSMT and Byculla, as well as CSMT and Wadala, will be affected. Several long-distance trains will be short terminated at Dadar.

Central Railway will operate a special power and traffic block for four hours late Saturday night to carry out enabling works for the girder launch of the Carnac Bridge near Masjid station, an official said on Thursday.

Suburban train services will be unavailable between CSMT and Byculla on the main line and between CSMT and Wadala stations on Harbour line during the block from 12:30am to 4am on Sunday, a CR release said.

'The power and traffic block is necessary for the erection of a special portal boom and the dismantling of an old anchor by an 800 MT airdrop road crane to facilitate the Carnac Bunder girder launch. Late night commuters and long-distance train passengers might face inconvenience as some late night suburban locals will be terminated and originated at Byculla, Parel, Thane, Wadala, and Kalyan stations instead of CSMT,' the release said.

At least half a dozen long-distance trains arriving at CSMT, including the Howrah-CSMT Superfast Express and Amritsar-CSMT Express, will be short-terminated at Dadar station, the release added.
