Four individuals lost their lives and 20 sustained injuries when eight coaches of the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express derailed near Gonda in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday, according to officials.

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak confirmed the fatalities, with the Relief Commissioner GS Naveen Kumar noting that 20 people were injured.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed local authorities to assist impacted passengers and ensure they receive necessary medical care.

Helpline numbers have been set up by the relief commissioner's office and the Railway Board to provide updates and assistance to affected passengers and their families.
