The Indian Coast Guard executed a daring rescue operation, saving 11 crew members from the sunken MV ITT Puma, approximately 90 nautical miles south of Sagar Island in the Bay of Bengal.

The operation, initiated after a distress signal was received late on the evening of August 25, saw prompt mobilization of two ICG vessels and a Dornier aircraft from the Coast Guard's North East regional headquarters in Kolkata.

Using advanced night-capable sensors, the aircraft located life rafts and sighted red flares from the distressed crew. Guided by the aircraft, ICG ships Sarang and Amogh coordinated a challenging sea-air rescue in adverse weather conditions, ensuring the survivors' safety.
