O.P. Jindal University in Sonipat hosted 39 Indian diaspora youth achievers from various countries on July 12, 2024, for an educational visit as part of the 75th Know India Programme by the Ministry of External Affairs.
Professor Sreeram Chaulia kicked off the event with a lecture on India's diaspora diplomacy, emphasizing the strategic importance of the Indian diaspora. He called them 'strategic assets' and role models contributing to India's global influence, citing Rishi Sunak and Kamala Harris as examples.
The second lecture was a collaborative session by Professors Naresh Singh and Haseeb Mohammed, who spoke about India's cultural and spiritual significance. They urged the diaspora to rediscover India with an open heart, highlighting India's contributions to tackling global crises and promoting 'Indian-ness.'
JGU Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) C. Raj Kumar emphasized the importance of such engagements in enhancing India's image and soft power globally. He praised the collaboration with the MEA under the KIP initiative. The event underscored India's evolving narrative, celebrating the diaspora as a key asset for national development and global outreach.
