The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is gearing up to leverage artificial intelligence in its Phase-4 project to enhance crowd management and train maintenance, officials revealed.

In a discussion with PTI, DMRC Managing Director Vikas Kumar highlighted that adopting technological advances, such as driverless trains, allows for rapid responses to fluctuating passenger demands. The new AI systems will enable predictive maintenance, significantly increasing operational efficiency.

Additionally, the DMRC plans to employ varied train compositions to match peak and off-peak hours, optimize operational costs, and improve crowd control through advanced surveillance. Despite past pandemic-related losses, the entity strives to boost non-fare revenue, ensuring financial stability and future network extensions.
