Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has issued directives to expand the state's Mukhyamantri Tirth Darshan Yojana to include local religious sites. This move aims to provide senior citizens opportunities to visit prominent pilgrimage locations within the state.

Originally started in 2012 under then-Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the scheme has benefited nearly eight lakh people over the past 12 years, offering visits to 41 individual and 9 pair pilgrimage sites across India. Yadav noted that the state's geographical structure often limits the accessibility of many of these sites to the elderly.

In a recent meeting, Yadav emphasized the double benefit of this expansion: offering senior citizens new travel experiences and boosting Madhya Pradesh's economy. The CM also advocated for trips for meritorious students and folk artists to significant tourist spots. An action plan is to be prepared by the Religious Trusts and Endowments Department.
