The central government has sanctioned Rs 40 crore for flood-stricken Tripura, Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced on Friday.

Shah revealed that 11 teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), three Army columns, and four Indian Air Force helicopters have been mobilized to support state-led flood relief efforts.

"In light of Tripura's flood crisis, the central government, under Modi Ji's leadership, has approved an advance release of Rs 40 crore from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) to assist affected citizens," Shah posted on 'X'.

The Home Minister affirmed that the Modi government stands firmly with the people of Tripura during these challenging times.

On Thursday, Shah contacted Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha to evaluate the flood situation, assuring comprehensive support from the Centre.

Officials reported that at least 22 fatalities and two missing persons have resulted from recent rain-induced floods and landslides in Tripura. Over 65,400 residents are currently housed in 450 relief camps after their homes were ravaged by torrential rains, affecting around 17 lakh people across the state.
