The Asia Pacific region is witnessing a notable surge in AI investments, with almost 43% of organizations planning to amp up their AI spending by over 20% in the coming year, reveals the IDC Data and AI Pulse: Asia Pacific 2024 study commissioned by SAS.

While organizations are largely hopping onto the AI bandwagon, the study shows a clear distinction between AI Leaders and Followers. Only 18% of the organizations consider themselves as AI Leaders who focus on long-term transformational change, while the rest are AI Followers lacking a definitive strategy.

Chris Marshall, Vice President at IDC Asia/Pacific, points out that although the 'AI gold rush' has inflated expectations, businesses must build solid AI foundations for sustained success.
