Amazon has launched a revolutionary technology aimed at transforming the delivery process for its drivers. Named Vision-Assisted Package Retrieval, or VAPR, this innovation is set to reduce the time and physical effort drivers spend organizing and retrieving packages.
Revealed at a company event in Nashville, Amazon retail chief Doug Harrington highlighted that the technology projects a green '0' on packages destined for delivery and a red 'X' on those that remain in the vehicle. The system also incorporates audio and visual cues to guide drivers to the correct parcels.
Scheduled to roll out in 1,000 delivery vans by early next year, VAPR has already shown promising results in trials with Amazon's Delivery Service Partners, cutting drivers' perceived effort and saving over 30 minutes per delivery route.
