Small Businesses Harnessing AI for Efficiency and Growth
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Teneo survey reveals a significant rise in AI adoption among small businesses, with 98% utilizing AI tools. Many are leveraging generative AI to save on costs and enhance productivity. Business owners, however, stress the need for human oversight to maximize AI's potential benefits.
The landscape of small businesses is witnessing a transformative shift with the increasing use of artificial intelligence (AI), according to a recent survey by The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Teneo.
Almost every small business (98%) reported employing AI-enabled tools, with 40% specifically using generative AI technologies such as chatbots and image creation—double the figure from last year's survey.
Business owners highlighted that while AI helps save on personnel costs and enhances productivity, human oversight remains crucial. "AI allows small businesses—who often lack the resources of their larger counterparts—to punch above their weight," noted Jordan Crenshaw, Senior Vice President of the U.S. Chamber's Technology Engagement Center. He described AI as a catalyst for innovation and resilience in small businesses.
