Meta Platforms is reportedly exploring an investment in eyeglasses manufacturer EssilorLuxottica to strengthen their long-term collaboration, according to CEO Mark Zuckerberg in an interview with The Verge. While he downplayed the size of the investment, Zuckerberg emphasized its symbolic importance for their partnership.

EssilorLuxottica and Meta have been collaborating on smart eyewear, and Zuckerberg highlighted the transformative potential of EssilorLuxottica in the tech industry. 'I fundamentally believe in them,' he said, predicting the company's evolution into a major technology firm.

Meta revealed its first working prototype of augmented-reality glasses, named Orion, at its annual Connect conference. Earlier, the Wall Street Journal reported that Meta might take a 5% stake in the French-Italian eyewear group.
