Political Sparks Fly Amidst Odisha's Durga Puja Festivities

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Leader of the Opposition Naveen Patnaik enveloped themselves in the vibrant celebrations of Durga Puja in Bhubaneswar. Both leaders engaged in offering prayers and mingling with pandal hoppers, lifting the festive spirit on Maha Ashtami.

Although their visits aimed to transcend political motives, the underlying political currents prevailed. Both Majhi and Patnaik visited an array of pandals, making their presence felt amid a political and public spectacle. Criticism surfaced as State Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan pointedly remarked on Patnaik's newfound interest in Puja events, suggesting it followed Majhi's lead.

Previously, Chief Minister Majhi announced a waiver for ground rent at Puja pandals, a gesture welcomed by organisers. Sources from the Chief Minister's Office disclosed plans for further pandal visits throughout Odisha, indicating a blend of devotion and political engagements intertwined with festive traditions.
