Ajay Sood, the Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India, announced on Thursday that India is fast emerging as a global research powerhouse and is on track to become a global leader in biotechnology. He made these remarks at the Global Bio-India 2024 Summit, crediting the nation's strides in research and innovation.
Sood pointed out that India has become a crucial hub for technological excellence, especially in biological manufacturing and biofuels. He referenced a report by the Australian Strategic Policy Institute (ASPI) that lists India among the top five countries in 45 out of 64 technologies, up from 37 last year.
The Principal Scientific Advisor also highlighted the critical role of India's new biotechnology policy, Bio-E3, in fostering economic growth, environmental sustainability, and job creation. He stressed the importance of stakeholder collaboration, integrating emerging technologies like quantum computing and AI, and innovative approaches for a carbon-neutral future.
