Karnataka's IT/BT Minister Priyank Kharge has committed to finalizing the global capability centres policy by the Bengaluru Tech Summit 2024, scheduled for November. Addressing the Global Innovation Alliance meet, Kharge emphasized Bengaluru's strategic importance in global tech innovation.

The Global Innovation Alliance, initiated in 2017, has expanded its partnerships from 10 countries in 2018 to over 30 by 2024. Highlighting Bengaluru's appeal, Kharge noted that more than 40% of global capability centres are being established in Karnataka.

According to Kharge, fostering global collaborations creates new markets and benefits all stakeholders. He revealed that Bengaluru witnessed over USD 45 billion in foreign direct investment recently, with multinational corporations like Intel, Cisco, and Google setting up R&D facilities, significantly contributing to global innovation.

Kharge also spoke about the upcoming state skilling programme for emerging technologies, promising a Rs 100 crore investment to enhance the state's workforce agility. Consul Generals of various GIA countries, along with officials from the Department of Electronics, IT-BT, were present at the meet.
