Billionaire Elon Musk has been given a 24-hour ultimatum by Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes to appoint a legal representative for his platform, X, in Brazil or face suspension of the service in the country.
The feud between Musk and Moraes stems from X's failure to comply with legal mandates to block accounts accused of disseminating fake news and hate speech. Musk's platform, formerly known as Twitter, has shut down its offices in Brazil but remains operational for users, citing censorship concerns.
If non-compliance persists, Moraes could escalate the situation by taking the matter to the plenary of the top court or freezing the assets of Musk's Starlink, further complicating the tech mogul's operations in Brazil.
