Gurugram, 22 August 2024: A recent survey by Capterra among 200 project managers highlights the transformative impact of AI-enabled project management software on project outcomes and the growing adoption of emotional intelligence (EQ) within the field.

The survey shows a strong positive impact of AI, with 97% of respondents reporting a positive return on investment (ROI) from AI project management technologies. Nearly half of these project managers (47%) expect a substantial rise in AI investments by up to 50% in their project management functions by 2025. Key areas of improvement include productivity and efficiency (69%) and planning and scheduling (66%).

However, the integration of AI is not without its challenges. Eighty percent of project managers expressed skepticism towards AI, citing high initial costs and the necessity of high-quality data as primary obstacles.

In addition to AI, the survey reports an increase in the use of EQ among project managers. A notable 93% have ramped up their EQ application in the past two years, with 60% frequently integrating EQ techniques into their roles, leading to better decision-making (66%) and improved team management (53%).

Analyst Sukanya Awasthi emphasized the importance of balancing human judgment with AI outcomes. "Modern workplaces require a shift from traditional management styles. Businesses should start small with AI, regularly review models, and maintain a balance with human judgment for optimal results in AI integration," Awasthi said.
