Thierry Breton, the EU industry chief, issued a warning to billionaire Elon Musk on Monday, emphasizing the necessity to adhere to EU law ahead of Musk's upcoming interview with U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump on social media platform X.
Scheduled for 8 PM Eastern Time (0000 Tuesday GMT), the interview will be accessible to users in the EU. Breton's letter highlighted the obligations set forth by the Digital Services Act (DSA), emphasizing its non-discriminatory application to all users, including Musk, who boasts over 190 million followers.
EU tech regulators recently declared that X violated the DSA by misleading users with its blue checkmarks. While X contested this assessment, Musk threatened legal action, sparking further tension over regulatory compliance.
