On the opening day of the third and final Test at Wankhede Stadium, Indian bowlers, spearheaded by spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar, successfully restricted New Zealand to a total of 235. The spin duo wreaked havoc on the Kiwis, claiming nine out of the ten wickets that fell.

India, in response, faced a batting collapse before stumps. Despite an impressive start, the hosts ended the day at 86/4. Openers Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal partnered initially but India faltered as Ajaz Patel's spin dismissed crucial players, pushing India to a challenging situation.

The day's highlight was Ravindra Jadeja's exceptional five-wicket haul, his 14th in the Test format. Sundar provided strong support, nabbing four wickets. As India trails by 149 runs, Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant are tasked with revitalizing their innings on Day 2.
