As the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 Retentions approach, former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh has expressed concerns about the challenges Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) might encounter while deciding which players to retain or release. Under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, KKR clinched their third title after a decisive victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad.

In an exclusive interview with Star Sports, Harbhajan praised the Kolkata-based team for their dominating performance last season and commented on potential retentions for the next season of the T20 league. He highlighted the importance of retaining uncapped player Ramandeep Singh, citing his impressive performances in IPL 2024 and domestic cricket.

Harbhajan suggested that KKR should retain key players like Shreyas Iyer, Phil Salt, Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, and Rinku Singh. He emphasized Rinku Singh as a must-retain option and recommended Ramandeep Singh as a promising inclusion. Meanwhile, KKR has appointed former West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo as their new mentor. Bravo, who retired from IPL and international cricket, has transitioned into coaching roles, previously with the Chennai Super Kings and the Afghanistan team.
