In recent discussions about Australia's efforts to identify a consistent opening batsman, former Australian captain Tim Paine has dispelled claims that David Warner intends to return to the international cricket scene. Paine explained that Warner's comments about coming out of retirement were made in jest, describing it as Warner's typical humorous style.

Speaking to SEN, Paine shared that Warner had jokingly remarked, 'I got them good,' in reference to the hoopla surrounding his tongue-in-cheek offer to play in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy series against India. Paine emphasized that Warner's retirement following the ICC T20 World Cup loss was genuine, with no serious plan to reverse it.

With a formidable record across all formats, Warner's post-retirement career remains impressive. He amassed 18,995 runs, including 49 centuries and 98 fifties, securing two ICC Cricket World Cup titles and dominating world cricket. The Border-Gavaskar Trophy begins in Perth on November 22, concluding in Sydney in January.
