Washington Sundar has re-emerged as a formidable Test cricketer, driven by a remarkable display in the Ranji Trophy for Tamil Nadu against New Delhi. His 152 runs at No. 3, along with a six-wicket haul, convinced head coach Gautam Gambhir to reintroduce him to the India Test team.
In his first Test since March 2021, Washington justified the decision by claiming seven wickets for 59 runs against New Zealand. He noted the importance of his red-ball domestic matches in maintaining his form and rhythm.
