Glasgow has been confirmed as the host city for the 2026 Commonwealth Games, stepping in after Australia's Victoria withdrew over financial concerns. The Games, set to run from July 23 to August 2, will feature a streamlined program with 10 sports, including para-athletics and para-swimming, across four venues.

Commonwealth Games Scotland chief executive Jon Doig assured that Glasgow 2026 will deliver the excitement and joy associated with the Games, despite being a scaled-down version. The event will use existing infrastructure and world-class venues first utilized when Glasgow hosted the event in 2014.

The Scottish government supports this bid, with the Commonwealth Games Federation providing £100 million in funding. Commonwealth Games Australia is also contributing financially, reflecting a long-standing connection as five of the last six editions were held in Australia or the UK.
