Conker Champion Cleared: 'King Conker' Investigation Concludes
The World Conker Championships organizers have concluded an investigation into alleged cheating by men's champion David Jakins, clearing him of wrongdoing. Initially, a report claimed his exoneration, but it was later retracted as it was sent in error. No replacement story will be issued.
An investigation into cheating allegations against David Jakins, the reigning champion of the World Conker Championships, has cleared him of any misconduct, according to a statement released by the tournament organizers on Monday. The sport of conkers involves players attempting to break their opponent's conker with their own, both of which are horse chestnut seeds threaded onto shoelaces.
In a twist of events, a news report announcing Jakins' clearance of cheating charges was mistakenly sent to Reuters. Subsequently, the story was withdrawn, and organizers clarified that there would be no substitute report available.
