Barely a day after being heckled by Indigenous Senator Lidia Thorpe at Parliament House, Britain's King Charles makes his way to Redfern, the cradle of Australia's urban Aboriginal civil rights movement. This is part of his first significant overseas tour since a cancer diagnosis.

The senator's protest underscored the enduring tension regarding Indigenous sovereignty, especially after last year's rejection of a referendum to recognise Aboriginal people in the constitution. In light of these events, King Charles spoke of Australia's intricate journey towards reconciliation.

During his visit, Charles will collaborate with Indigenous Elders and engage with Redfern's Native Excellence Centre. His agenda includes viewing a sustainable social housing project, backed by the King's Trust Australia. This visit will culminate with a public meet at Sydney's Opera House before the royal couple proceeds to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Samoa.
