Mohammed Shami Readies Comeback for Crucial Australia Tour
Indian pacer Mohammed Shami has declared himself pain-free and aims to play one or two domestic games to prove his fitness ahead of the upcoming tour of Australia. Having battled injuries before, Shami emphasizes the importance of maintaining fitness and learning patience through recovery processes.
Mohammed Shami, India's seasoned pace bowler, announced on Monday that he is pain-free and eager to prove his mettle in domestic cricket to make a compelling case for selection in the upcoming marquee tour of Australia, slated to begin next month.
Shami, who has not played since the ODI World Cup final last November, returned to bowling at full speed in nets following India's inaugural Test against New Zealand. This update comes amid concerns of swelling in his knees, which hampered his rehabilitation from an ankle injury sustained last year.
The 34-year-old, part of several successful tours in the past, is keen on ensuring his fitness to contribute to his team's plans on the challenging Australian pitches, despite Indian captain Rohit Sharma's cautious stance on taking him on as an 'undercooked' player.
