Nottingham Forest Fined Over Controversial Social Media Post
Nottingham Forest have been fined £750,000 for a social media post criticizing referee decisions after their defeat to Everton. The club accused VAR official Stuart Attwell of bias, citing multiple unawarded penalties. The FA conducted a hearing, found misconduct, and imposed the fine. Forest may appeal.
Nottingham Forest has been slapped with a £750,000 fine by the Football Association following a social media outburst after a match against Everton. The club's post lamented the denial of three penalty claims and implied bias by VAR official Stuart Attwell, whom they accused of being a Luton Town fan.
At that time, Forest was battling relegation alongside Luton. Despite the club's denial of any insinuation of bias or disrespect towards the officials, an independent Regulatory Commission confirmed the misconduct charge after a hearing, subsequently imposing sanctions.
Forest's social media statement highlighted extreme dissatisfaction with VAR decisions and has led to potential further actions as the club considers an appeal against the FA's ruling.
