In a significant development for Indian hockey, the Hockey India League (HIL) is poised for a comeback after a hiatus of seven years. Former captain Sardar Singh expresses optimism about the league's potential to rejuvenate the sport, predicting a glorious path ahead.
This year, over 1,000 players have registered for the HIL 2024-25 Players' Auction. The events are scheduled with the men's auction on October 13-14, followed by a historic women's auction on October 15. For the first time, the league will concurrently host both men's and women's competitions.
Reflecting on past experiences, Sardar recalls the high-performance environment and the pivotal role HIL played in honing Indian talent, such as current team stalwarts Harmanpreet, Mandeep, and Sumit. Young players like these have reaped the benefits of exposure to world-class talent, setting the stage for India's ongoing success in hockey.
