In a dramatic escalation of tensions within Indian sports governance, PT Usha, the President of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), has accused Kalyan Chaubey, the President of the All India Football Federation (AIFF), of impersonating the acting CEO of the IOA. Usha's statement highlights the current CEO, Raghuram Iyer, as the only legitimate holder of that position, a fact recognized by the International Olympic Committee and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
Usha strongly criticized the use of IOA's official stationery by Chaubey to schedule a Special General Meeting (SGM) on October 25, deeming it both illegal and in violation of the organization's constitution. She expressed concern over select Executive Council members who have allegedly denied Iyer's appointment and delayed his salary for several months.
The situation has been further complicated by Usha's claims of unauthorized actions by Chaubey, such as recognizing the Taekwondo Federation of India without the General Assembly's approval. As tensions rise, Usha remains committed to transparency and urges stakeholders to uphold the integrity of the IOA amid internal disputes.
