The Indian men's table tennis team has made its mark at the 2024 Asian Table Tennis Championships held in Kazakhstan by clinching the bronze medal. The team, comprising of Manav Thakkar, Harmeet Desai, and Sharath Kamal, showcased impressive performances to reach the semifinals.

In the quarterfinals, the Indian contingent beat Kazakhstan's Kirill Gerassimenko, Alan Kurmangaliyev, and Aidos Kenzhigulov with a resounding 3-1 victory. This triumph ensured their bronze medal and set the stage for a formidable semifinal face-off against Chinese Taipei, which was scheduled for Thursday.

Meanwhile, the Indian women's team celebrated a historic achievement with a bronze medal win, the nation's first in the women's team category at the Asian Table Tennis Championships since its inauguration in 1972. In the semifinals, India fell short against Japan, losing 1-3. However, a spirited win against South Korea during the quarterfinals secured their place on the podium.
