An inspector from Mumbai police's Economic Offences Wing, Mahendra Sawardekar, was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau for allegedly accepting a Rs 2 lakh bribe.

The incident involved a Tamil Nadu-based investor who had put Rs 49.44 lakh into Bliss Investment, a firm accused of multiple frauds. The EOW was investigating the case.

Sawardekar allegedly demanded a 10% bribe from the investor, who instead reported him to the ACB. The bureau set a trap and arrested the officer at his office while accepting the bribe.
