At an age when many choose to slow down, 75-year-old Gopinath Mohan is sprinting forward, defying expectations. For the past decade, this retired defence finance official has embraced running, demonstrating that it's never too late to embark on a new path in life. Gopinath's unexpected love for running began at 65. 'In September 2014, I just ran in Mysore,' he recalled, noting that he completed a 5K in 40 minutes.

Without any prior experience, he discovered a passion that would propel him over 57,412 kilometers. Gopinath has participated in numerous races across India, including the prestigious Delhi Half Marathon. While he hasn't run the event in person yet, his enthusiasm is infectious. 'Excellent, very nice,' he remarked, highlighting his virtual participation over the last five years and the immersive experience created by the event's technological innovations.

'The app is fantastic,' Gopinath said, explaining how it tracks distances and enhances the experience. His virtual connection serves as motivation and illustrates how technology bridges gaps, fostering a community among runners. Over 11 years, his dedication has garnered 380 medals and 50 trophies across India. For Gopinath, running is a lifestyle and a source of health and happiness. 'Running should be part of your daily routine,' he advises, emphasizing that age shouldn't be a deterrent.
