In a significant breakthrough, Pune police have arrested the first suspect in connection with the horrific rape of a 21-year-old woman on the city's outskirts. This arrest follows a week-long investigation involving around 700 officers who meticulously combed through hours of CCTV footage to solve the case.
The incident, which occurred on October 3 in the Bopdev Ghat area, saw three men allegedly assault the woman and beat up her male companion. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis lauded the police for their dedication in identifying and tracking the perpetrators.
Authorities have announced that the search for the remaining suspects is ongoing, with rewards and multiple teams deployed to ensure justice. The government has promised harsh penalties for those involved, addressing public outrage over the heinous crime.
