Controversy Erupts Over Benatia's Unexpected Suspension
Olympique de Marseille contests the French football league's three-match ban on sporting director Medhi Benatia. The club argues the suspension, following a confrontation during their match against Lyon, is disproportionate, as Benatia neither threatened nor insulted officials. Marseille strongly disagrees with the ruling.
Olympique de Marseille has publicly criticized a three-match suspension given to their sporting director Medhi Benatia. The club asserts that Benatia did not threaten or insult match officials during a confrontation over a controversial red card for Leonardo Balerdi.
The LFP issued a decision to suspend Benatia, also adding a suspended suspension for three additional matches from key roles, which Marseille has contested.
The club believes the ruling is disproportionate compared to similar precedents. Despite being third in the standings, Marseille shows no sign of backing down, especially with an upcoming match against Angers.
