India Tops Medal Tally as Parth Mane Captures Double Gold at ISSF Junior Championship

Parth Rakesh Mane was crowned junior world champion in the 10m air rifle, leading a dominant performance by India in the discipline, as their medal tally surged at the end of day three of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Junior World Championship in Lima, Peru. Parth secured double gold, teaming up with Ajay Malik and Abhinav Shaw to win the team competition. Another gold came from Gautami Bhanot, Sambhavi Kshirsagar, and Anoushka Thakur in the junior women's 10m air rifle team event.

The 16-year-old Mane delivered a standout performance, scoring 250.7 in the 24-shot final, narrowly edging out reigning junior Asian champion Huang Liwanlin of China by 0.7. Braden Peiser of the USA took bronze, while Paris Olympic silver medallist Victor Lindgren of Sweden placed fourth. Ajay Malik and Abhinav Shaw, fellow Indians, finished fifth and seventh respectively. Ajay registered 186.7 and Abhinav 144.2 in the final standings.

In the qualification rounds, Ajay came second with 628.8, Parth fourth with 627.7, and Abhinav sixth with 627.0. Indian shooters Umamahesh Maddineni and Talwar Singh finished 13th and 14th, respectively. The trio's combined score of 1883.5 secured India the team gold, surpassing USA and Germany. Though three Indians made the junior women's air rifle final, they missed individual medals but clinched team gold with a record score. India leads the medal tally with five golds overall.
