Ravindra Jadeja hastened Bangladesh's collapse with a sizzling three-wicket haul as India closed in on victory in the second Test by wrapping up the visitors' second innings for 146 at lunch on day 5, here on Tuesday.

India, holding a 52-run first-innings lead, needs to score 95 runs in the remaining two sessions to secure a whitewash against the visitors.

A win, which seems imminent barring any weather disruptions, will cement India's pole position in the ICC World Test Championship Table (WTC).

Jadeja (3/34), Jasprit Bumrah (3/17), and Ravichandran Ashwin (3/50) collectively took nine wickets, while Akash Deep (1/20) dismissed one batter.

Starting the decisive day at 26 for two, Bangladesh lost overnight batter Mominul Haque (2) to an early Ashwin delivery, but Shadman Islam (50 off 101) stood firm with a fighting knock featuring 10 boundaries.

Shadman (50) formed a 55-run partnership with his skipper for the fourth wicket, but Shanto (19 off 37) squandered the advantage with poor shot selection, attempting a reverse sweep against Jadeja and missing completely to be bowled out.

Pacer Akash then got Shadman caught in the slips. Once Shadman was dismissed, Bangladesh's batting fell apart, with Jadeja proving too much for the visitors. The left-arm spinner dismissed Shanto, Litton Das (1), and Shakib Al Hasan (0), breaking the backbone of Bangladesh's middle order.

Bumrah then removed Mehidy Hasan Miraz (9) and Taijul Islam (0), adding to Bangladesh's woes. He wrapped up the innings by dispatching Mushfiqur Rahim (37), who, apart from Shadman, offered some resistance.
