Bangladesh selector and former player Abdur Razzak on Wednesday stated that Shakib Al Hasan would be given ample time to decide on his international career's conclusion. The 37-year-old Shakib, a legendary all-rounder, has struggled recently, failing to make a significant impact in the opening Test against India in Chennai. 'Someone is ready to take his place, but it is ultimately Shakib's call,' Razzak said in an exclusive interview with PTI at the Legends League Cricket.

Razzak emphasized that despite Shakib's recent struggles, he remains a valuable player. 'Shakib has been the No. 1 all-rounder for the past 15 years. We will always want him, but players must eventually move on. We're awaiting Shakib's decision, which I'm confident will be the right one,' he added.

The former player also warned about the rising popularity of T20 leagues among young cricketers, stressing the need to encourage them to play Test cricket. Looking ahead, Razzak expressed optimism about Bangladesh's prospects in upcoming ICC events, including the 2026 T20 World Cup and the Champions Trophy next year.
