Alex Marshall, the outgoing chief of the ICC Anti Corruption Unit (ACU), has expressed concerns about potential corruptors targeting local T20 leagues, which fall outside the jurisdiction of the global cricket body.
Marshall, a former British police officer, highlighted that the cricket monitored by the ICC remains mostly 'safe and clean,' and noted an increase in trusted player reporting of corrupt activities.
Significant strides have been made in combating corruption, notably in Sri Lanka, where collaboration with local authorities has led to a crackdown on illicit practices. However, Marshall emphasizes that the ongoing threat from corruptors persists as they continually seek entry points into the sport.
