Morne Morkel, the newly appointed bowling coach for the Indian cricket team, has expressed his fondness for Indian delicacies like dosa and murgh malai chicken. The former South African cricket stalwart joined the Indian team in Chennai ahead of his first coaching assignment.
As the team prepares for the upcoming Test against Bangladesh, Morkel shared his culinary preferences in a BCCI video, stating, "I like a bit of poori. For breakfast, I obviously love dosas and murgh malai chicken. It is essential as a coach to demonstrate healthy eating habits that players can emulate."
Morkel succeeds Paras Mhambrey under the new coaching regime and has roots with head coach Gautam Gambhir from their IPL days at Lucknow Super Giants. Reflecting on his BCCI appointment, Morkel recalled, "I spoke first to my dad about it. I have been a cricket fan for years, and this opportunity felt special. After some reflection, I shared the news with my family."
Recognized for his formidable pace during his playing days, the 39-year-old also served as Pakistan's bowling coach from June 2023 until November last year, exiting six weeks before his contract concluded.
