Leicester City’s Transfer Window Impacted by Appeal Timing

Leicester City's summer transfer market strategy might have been different had the result of their successful appeal against a Premier League spending rule breach case come out sooner, according to manager Steve Cooper. The promoted club sidestepped a potential points deduction after an independent commission's lack of jurisdiction was confirmed earlier this month.

'It's obviously a positive thing,' Cooper told reporters on Thursday. 'It adds a little bit of frustration as things could have been different in the summer transfer window if we had found out earlier. I'll have to get over that, but I'm really happy with the squad.'

Leicester was linked with several transfer targets that did not materialize, including Arsenal's Reiss Nelson and Celtic's Matt O'Riley, who went to Fulham and Brighton & Hove Albion instead. The club did bring in players like Oliver Skipp from Tottenham Hotspur and Caleb Okoli from Atalanta.

Cooper welcomed the decision: 'It is good that the supporters have clarity and so does the game. We were ready as a group to stand up and fight for the club if it was a negative decision.' He emphasized unity as the club faces new challenges ahead. Leicester, with one point from three matches, will visit Crystal Palace on Saturday.
