Scrumhalf Morne van den Berg will replace Grant Williams in South Africa's squad for the decisive Rugby Championship Test against Argentina. Williams, who played in the victory over New Zealand, is out due to an arm injury. Van den Berg had previously played against Portugal and Australia.
Scrumhalf Morne van den Berg will take the place of the injured Grant Williams in South Africa's squad for their potentially decisive Rugby Championship Test in Argentina on Sept. 21, officials announced on Thursday. Williams, who played a key role in the 18-12 victory over New Zealand in Cape Town on Saturday, has been sidelined with an arm injury.
Van den Berg made his international debut in the 64-21 win against Portugal in July and started in the 30-12 Rugby Championship victory over Australia in Perth last month. The Springboks' squad also includes two other scrumhalves, Jaden Hendrikse and Cobus Reinach. South Africa, currently leading the standings with 18 points from four games, are poised to clinch the trophy for the fifth time in their history with a win over second-placed Argentina, who have 10 points.
