Captain Ben Stokes is set to make his return to the England test side for their upcoming tour of Pakistan in October. The announcement came from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Tuesday, following the release of a 17-member squad.

Stokes missed the recent series against Sri Lanka due to a hamstring tear but has been recovering alongside Zak Crawley, who returns after fracturing his right little finger in July. The first match of the three-game series kicks off on Oct. 7.

Rehan Ahmed, who made his red-ball debut during England's last tour to Pakistan in December 2022, is also back in the squad. The 20-year-old Josh Hull, debuting against Sri Lanka, and uncapped players Brydon Carse and Jordan Cox have also been included. The Pakistan Cricket Board is yet to announce the series venues.
