Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday hailed India's latest crop of Paralympic medalists during a telephonic conversation, terming their accomplishments at the Paris Paralympic Games as the 'biggest gift to the country.' The call included medalists Harvinder Singh, Kapil Parmar, Pranav Soorma, Sachin Sarjerao Khilari, and Dharambir, who were congratulated on their stellar victories.

Modi commended not just the athletes, but also their coaches, acknowledging the efforts behind the stunning performances. With India's medal tally reaching 26—comprising six gold, nine silver, and 11 bronze—this marks the nation's most successful Paralympic campaign, surpassing the 19 medals won in Tokyo 2020.

Highlights of the achievements include Kapil Parmar's 33-second Ippon victory for bronze in Judo, Harvinder Singh's historic gold in para-archery, Sachin Khilari's silver in men's shot put F46, and the double podium finish by Dharambir and Pranav Soorma in the men's club throw F51 event. Dharambir's record-breaking throw secured India's sixth gold, matching their Tokyo haul and taking the total to a record number of 26 medals.
