Argentina has made key changes to its lineup for the Rugby Championship clash against Australia, bringing back veteran second-rowers Tomas Lavanini and Guido Petti. Coach Felipe Contepomi announced four changes from the team that narrowly lost to the Wallabies last week. Saturday's match also marks captain Julian Montoya's 100th cap.
Argentina has reshuffled its lineup for the upcoming Rugby Championship match against Australia, introducing veteran second-rowers Tomas Lavanini and Guido Petti to bolster their forward strength. Coach Felipe Contepomi revealed four adjustments to the team that suffered a tight 20-19 defeat against the Wallabies in La Plata last Saturday.
Lavanini and Petti, who both came off the bench in the previous match, will now start, replacing Pedro Rubiolo and Franco Molina. Other notable changes include Tomas Albornoz replacing Santiago Carreras at flyhalf and Bautista Delguy taking the right wing in place of Santiago Cordero. The test in Santa Fe will also be the 100th cap for Argentina's captain Julian Montoya.
Meanwhile, Gonzalo Garcia retains his spot as backup scrumhalf following an injury to Lautaro Bazan Velez last week. The team also surprised by calling up 35-year-old Tomas Cubelli, although he quickly suffered a muscle strain after joining. Argentina and Australia have both lost two of their first three matches in this year's championship.
