England's white-ball cricket captain, Jos Buttler, has been ruled out of the Twenty20 series against Australia due to a right calf injury, the team confirmed on Thursday. The injury may also cause him to miss the upcoming one-day series.

Buttler will be replaced in the T20 squad by Jamie Overton, while Phil Salt steps in as captain. The series, consisting of three matches, kicks off on Wednesday.

As for the five-match ODI series starting on Sept. 19, Buttler has two weeks to recover. Batter Jordan Cox has been included in the squad as a precautionary measure should Buttler be unable to participate.
