Matthew Mott has inked a three-year contract with the Sydney Sixers to take over from Cameron White, who has moved to the Melbourne Renegades. Mott's new role as an assistant coach follows his successful tenure with England's men's white-ball team. Previously, he spent eight fruitful years coaching the Australia Women's team.

"I'm delighted to join back up with the Sydney Sixers," Mott said to ESPNcricinfo. "Having started my coaching journey in Sydney, it's a place that evokes great memories and a sense of familiarity," he added.

Mott will now work alongside Greg Shipperd for the upcoming Big Bash League (BBL) season. "The idea of being an assistant to Greg Shipperd, for whom I have a tremendous amount of respect, really appealed to me," he noted.

Mott's stint with England saw him winning the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia, although his tenure ended following a semi-final exit this year and a disappointing performance in the 2023 ODI World Cup. His coaching career began with New South Wales' men's team in 2007.

Back with the state's setup, Mott will reunite with Rachael Haynes, a key member of the successful Australia side he previously coached. "We are thrilled to have Motty on board for the next three years," said Haynes, Sixers' general manager, to ESPNcricinfo.

"When the opportunity arises to bring a coach of Motty's calibre, it's a no-brainer. We know what an invaluable resource he will be for our playing group," she said. "His impressive resume speaks for itself. He has a proven track record of success globally and knows how to build and maintain a winning culture," she noted.

"Our club is in safe hands under the leadership of Greg Shipperd and Charlotte Edwards in our women's program. We're delighted to add Motty's experience to this group, taking us forward," Haynes concluded. The Sixers have also retained James Vince despite efforts by the Renegades to lure him away and signed Yorkshire legspinner Jafer Chohan. Additionally, they have brought in West Indies legspinner Akeal Hosein before the draft. (ANI)
