Indian Club Throwers Shine: Dharambir Sets Asian Record in Men's F51 Event

In a remarkable performance at the Paralympics, Dharambir set a new Asian record to clinch the gold medal in the men's F51 club throw event. His compatriot Pranav Soorma secured the silver medal, making it a one-two finish for India.
Dharambir, a 35-year-old world championships bronze medallist from Sonepat, achieved the top spot with a throw of 34.92m on his fifth attempt, following four fouled attempts. Soorma, who sustained a spinal injury at 16, made his best throw of 34.59m in his first attempt, securing the silver.
The third Indian competitor, Amit Kumar, a 2017 world championship silver medallist, finished last with a best effort of 23.96m. Serbia's Filip Graovac took the bronze with a 34.18m throw in his second attempt. The F51 club throw event is characterized by athletes who compete seated, relying on shoulder and arm strength.
