India para-shuttler Suhas Yathiraj settled for a silver at the Paris Paralympics, echoing his podium finish in Tokyo three years ago. In the men's singles SL4 category, France's Lucas Mazur overwhelmed Suhas in straight sets, defeating him 9-21, 13-21.

Initially struggling to match Mazur's intensity, Yathiraj fell short in the opening set. Despite a spirited attempt to recover in the second set, he had to be content with a silver medal. Meanwhile, his compatriot Sukant Kadam also faced disappointment in the same event, falling to Indonesia's Fredy Setiawan after a 17-21, 18-21 defeat.

Para-shuttlers Thulasimathi Murugesan and Manisha Ramadass highlighted India's strong showing in the women's singles SU5 category, winning silver and bronze medals, respectively. Murugesan lost to China's Yang Qiu Xia 21-17, 21-10, while Ramadass defeated Denmark's Cathrine Rosengren 21-12, 21-8 to seize the bronze.

India also celebrated gold medal success in para-badminton, with Nitesh Kumar triumphing over Great Britain's Daniel Bethell in the men's singles SL3 category. Nitesh, who honed his badminton skills at IIT-Mandi, clinched gold after a thrilling match that ended 21-14, 18-21, 23-21.

This victory added to India's medal tally at the Paris Paralympics, following shooter Avani Lekhra's gold in the women's 10m air rifle final.
