Formula One stewards have penalized Haas's Kevin Magnussen with a one-race ban after the racer accumulated 12 penalty points within a 12-month span. The consequential ban was triggered following an incident at Monza, where Magnussen collided with Alpine's Pierre Gasly.

Despite the penalty, Magnussen managed to finish 10th in the Monza race. Stewards confirmed in a statement that his super licence is suspended for the next race, after which the accumulated penalty points will reset.

The 17th round of the 24-race championship is set to take place in Baku on September 15. Ferrari reserve driver Oliver Bearman, who will join Haas next season, might step in for the banned Magnussen. Bearman had made his debut earlier this year in Saudi Arabia, filling in for Carlos Sainz at Ferrari and finishing seventh.
