Arsenal's New Signing Mikel Merino Sidelined with Shoulder Injury

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that new signing Mikel Merino is expected to be out for several weeks following a shoulder injury. The midfielder, who joined from Real Sociedad on a long-term contract earlier this week, sustained the injury during training.

"It's very unfortunate. He had a collision yesterday, resulting in a shoulder injury. He's likely to be out for a few weeks," Arteta informed reporters on Friday. "He landed awkwardly, and Gabriel Magalhaes fell on top of him, causing what appears to be a small fracture.

Arteta also discussed the upcoming home match against Brighton & Hove Albion, which has started the season positively with two consecutive wins. Despite the injury setback, Arteta expressed satisfaction with his squad as the transfer deadline looms, emphasizing a focus on improving the existing players.
