Arshad Shaik faced a major setback as he finished ninth in the men's pursuit C2 category during the Paris Paralympics, failing to secure a spot in the finals. The 31-year-old cyclist completed the race in 4:20.949.
France's Alexandre Léauté took the top spot with a world-record time of 3:24.298. He was followed by Ewoud Vromant of Belgium, Matthew Robertson of Great Britain, and Shota Kawamoto of Japan, who joined the final round.
Shaik will get another shot at victory on Saturday in the men's 1000m time trial C1-3 category. He is also set to compete in the men's time trial C2 and men's road race C1-3 events in road cycling.
